SELECTED INDICATORS OF THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC SITUATION OF THE WIELKOPOLSKA REGION (as of May 2020)
The situation on the labour market in the Wielkopolska Region has worsened due to the effects of the COVID-19 epidemic: there has been a decline in average employment in the enterprise sector and an increase in the registered unemployment rate.

In May 2020, for the first time in a long time, a decrease in the average monthly employment in the enterprise sector was recorded compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. It amounted to 787,100 people, which means a decrease by 0.9% compared to April 2020 and by 0.3% compared to May 2019.
The registered unemployment rate also rose, reaching a level higher than in the previous year. It amounted to 3.6%, i.e. 0.3 percentage points more than in April 2020 and 0.7 percentage points more than in May 2019. However, the unemployment rate still remained the lowest in the country (the national average was 6.0 %). The unemployment rate in Wielkopolska remains geographically differentiated: the rate is the lowest in Poznań and the Poznań powiat and the highest in the Konin, Chodzież and Słupca powiats.
The professionally active population of the Wielkopolska Region in the 1st quarter of 2020 was 1,603,000 people, which accounted for 57.3% of the total population aged 15 and more (the national average was 56.0%). The distance between the professional activity rates of men (68.4%) and women (47.1%) widened.
